So today I want to talk about something that’s been living rent-free in my gamer brain lately: Metroid Prime Beyond. As a long-time Metroid fan, just hearing that name hits different. It feels like a promise—of mystery, isolation, and that unmistakable Prime atmosphere that no other series quite captures.

First off, what I hope Beyond means is exactly that: pushing past what we already know about Samus and the Prime formula. The original Prime trilogy nailed exploration—backtracking that felt smart, environments that told stories without words, and that lonely, almost haunting vibe. If Beyond is truly going forward, I want deeper worlds, not just bigger ones. Less “open for the sake of open,” more “every room matters.”

Visually, I’m expecting Retro Studios–level polish. Prime has always been about immersion—foggy caverns, alien ruins, reflections in Samus’s visor. If Beyond leans into modern hardware properly, this could be one of those games where you just stop moving and look. I want environments that feel alive but still hostile, like the planet itself doesn’t want me there.

Now let’s talk gameplay. I don’t want Metroid Prime to lose its identity by chasing trends. No forced multiplayer, no bloated skill trees. What I do want is smarter enemies, more meaningful upgrades, and boss fights that feel like puzzles under pressure. Prime bosses were never just about shooting—they were about learning patterns, reading the room, and staying calm when your health was flashing red.

Story-wise, I’m hoping for subtlety. Metroid shines when it trusts the player to piece things together. Environmental storytelling, Chozo lore, maybe even questioning Samus’s role in the galaxy again. Beyond could be a chance to explore what happens after the usual mission—after the explosion, after the escape, after the credits would normally roll.

But I’ll be honest—I’m cautious too. The wait has been long, and expectations are sky-high. That can be dangerous. All I really want is a game that respects the Prime legacy while daring to evolve it. If Metroid Prime Beyond can make me feel alone, curious, slightly uneasy, and completely hooked… then yeah, that’s a day-one play, no question.

Until then, I’ll be replaying the classics, scanning every wall, and dreaming of what’s waiting on the other side of “Beyond.”

Let me know your thoughts—are you hyped, cautious, or both? See you in the next drop. 🎮✨
