While it doesn’t reinvent every genre staple, it delivers a satisfying blend of high-energy combat, cinematic storytelling, and a surprisingly deep progression system.

The game opens with a galaxy-wide crisis: an unstable rift known as the Nullstorm threatens to consume entire star systems. Villains like Ronan, Kang, and a resurrected Annihilus take advantage of the chaos, resulting in unlikely hero matchups and tense alliances.

The narrative leans heavily into space-opera vibes, and it works. You get visits to Knowhere, Xandar, the Kree capitol, and a handful of gorgeous new planets created specifically for the game.
