Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is a vibrant, time-twisting beat ’em up that embraces everything fans love about the franchise—cheesy villainy, color-coded teamwork, and over-the-top transformations—while polishing the formula for a modern audience. It’s nostalgia done right without feeling stuck in the past.

🕰️ Story & Tone – 8/10

The setup is delightfully chaotic: Rita Repulsa has discovered a glitchy time-warp device that lets her rewrite Ranger history, spawning “remixed” versions of classic threats and looping the team through distorted eras. The narrative is intentionally campy, leaning into the ‘90s charm while giving players plenty of clever self-aware humor.

It’s simple, silly, and exactly what a Power Rangers game should be.

🥋 Gameplay – 8.2/10

At its heart, Rita’s Rewind is a side-scrolling brawler with modern conveniences. Controls are tight, combos are satisfying, and each Ranger feels mechanically distinct rather than just a palette swap.

What Works

  • Team-based attacks let you call in Ranger assists, opening the door to flashy, screen-clearing moves.

  • Morph mechanics add a fun power spike mid-level, changing your move set and increasing speed/damage.

  • Zord battles are brief but cinematic, delivering a nice change of pace with giant-robot spectacle.

What Could Be Better

  • Some mid-game stages feel slightly padded with repetitive enemy waves.

  • Co-op AI isn’t always sharp, occasionally whiffing assists or getting stuck behind objects.

Still, the minute-to-minute action is energetic and highly replayable.

🎨 Visuals – 9/10

The art direction is one of the game’s biggest triumphs. It blends retro arcade style with crisp modern effects, giving each level a colorful comic-book feel. Environmental details—like billboard easter eggs, retro TV filters during time glitches, and exaggerated enemy designs—add tons of personality.

Animations are smooth, and the morphing sequences are pure fan-service perfection.

🔊 Sound & Music – 8.5/10

The soundtrack remixes iconic Mighty Morphin themes with punchy synths and electric guitar riffs. Voice work is energetic, capturing the franchise’s theatrical charm without going overboard. Punches, explosions, and Zord stomps all have satisfying audio weight.

🔁 Replay Value – 7.8/10

The campaign runs around 5–6 hours, but unlockable challenge runs, higher difficulties, alternate Ranger skins, and score-chasing extend the fun. Co-op mode—online or couch—is where the game truly shines.

If you’re a solo-only player, replayability may feel a bit lighter.

Verdict – 8.4/10

Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is exactly the kind of modern retro revival fans have been waiting for. It’s stylish, fun, and packed with personality. While not perfect, it nails the spirit of the Power Rangers with energetic combat, memorable visuals, and a constant sense of playful nostalgia.

A must-play for fans and a surprisingly strong brawler for newcomers. Go Go Power Rangers!
